“There are places to come from, and places to go…”
That Joni Mitchell lyric sums up this final issue of the Working Solo Newsletter here on Substack.1
I’m announcing the move of this newsletter off Substack and a shift in scope to embrace a broader content focus.
I want to help you stand out in a crowded field and become a magnet for clients and opportunities. How? By building your visibility, credibility, and authority.
Starting on March 5, 2024, you’ll find some changes. Here’s a rundown:
Topics
I’ll be writing about the intersection of ideas, words, and images. This will include the world of solopreneurship (of course), but also visual frameworks, personal branding, storytelling, design, type, icons, and more.Tone
Instead of a formal “publication,” I want to send you informal emails that are more like messages to friends. “Hey, look what I discovered lately....” I want to bring you on my journey as I dig into new territories of design and visual communication. At the same time, I look forward to hearing about your new finds, and what you’re puzzling about.Outcome
The goal of this new adventure is to become a master communicator. I want to help you stand out, and build visibility, credibility, and authority in your field of choice.I aim to place in your hands powerful tools of persuasion so that your ideas, services, products, and more can get seen, trusted, and chosen.
Name
The name of this new weekly communiqué is SOLO. It captures my longstanding work with solopreneurs and my focus on helping you stand out and become a singular authority.Logo
The simple logo mimics the color palette and the first part of the logo for the Solo Business School, which will debut later in 2024—and I wanted to tie it all together. I plan to reintroduce my cohort-based course on visual frameworks, Authority By Design, as a hybrid course within the School.
Archives will remain on Substack
My 37 issues of the Working Solo Newsletter will remain on Substack, available to anyone starting or growing their solo business—and to revisit at any time.
I’m proud of the work I’ve been able to share here and the reader community we’ve built. I appreciate you being part of it.
Now, it’s time to move on to explore new territory that will help solopreneurs stand out. The expanded focus matches my interests and expertise in design, strategy, and communication—and will bring new value to solopreneurs.
Thanks for being a reader of the Working Solo Newsletter. I hope you’ll come along for the next stage of the journey. I think it’s going to be a pretty fun ride.
The lyrics are from “Night in the City,” from Joni’s 1968 debut album, Song to a Seagull.
I’m always riding with Terri, no matter where she goes or which platform she uses.
Co-pilots for life.
A beautifully communicated transition Terri. I love the clarity of your direction and plan to come along. I have been contemplating a bit of a rebrand myself, so this is very useful to watch how you're navigating it and communicating about your move. Curious about the migration off of Substack and why if you're willing to share.
